About The Event
The Summit is the first project for the 2023 Black History Month Series, a two-weekend fundraiser to benefit Highways. In the tradition of Highways creatively pushing the envelope, The Summit is a new, virtual play set in modern-day America; a Black, middle management corporate lifer leads her staff, an inherited team of corporate "allies," and some unexpected ancestors through the turbulent week leading up to the firm's first company-wide diversity, equity and inclusion event, following an incident that is tearing the country–and the company–apart.
Written, directed, and produced by Donna Michelle Anderson, a multi-platform executive, multi-sector DEI strategist, and multi-patented tech entrepreneur, the play intentionally unfolds entirely on video conferencing calls as it deftly examines and exposes cultural and generational relationships to country, career, and identity.
With The Summit, Anderson returns to her roots in theater–her first play was read at New York's Frank Silvera Writers' Workshop prior to its festival debut–and continues her creative exploration and intertwining of culture, technology, and humanity.
The suggested ticket price is $20. We offer a PAY-WHAT-U-CAN option in the spirit of Highways' reopening.
We are also grateful for any amounts higher than $20 in light of this being a fundraiser.
