Jacob Wolff - My Blue Raspberry

My Blue Raspberry is the sophomore alternative opera by Jacob Wolff. The piece lacks a traditional narrative or cast of characters, but instead creates a collage of visual and performative poetics by organizing bodies compositionally as well as using text instruction, while combining prose, video, music and movement (in loose terms).

My Blue Raspberry uses a variety of appropriated videos and texts in combination with original material (created by the artist and collected from their childhood) that describes the blurred lines one experiences as their own memory and memory experienced through media become indistinguishable.

"Blue raspberry is not a berry found in nature but instead a flavoring developed for consumers of ice pops to decipher between other red flavors like cherry, strawberry, and watermelon. My blue raspberry is a constructed nostalgia of memories that did and did not actually happen to me.
