About The Event

The Feminine Mystique makes its electrifying debut as part of Highways' annual a/o/x series (formerly Latinx New Works), this MAP Fund-awarded performance ritual fuses poetry, live music, and layered vocals to conjure the ancestral magic of Latina and Chicana storytellers. Led by powerhouse poet and musician Angélica Maria, the piece draws from the writings of Frida Kahlo, Maria Sabina, and Pat Mora to dismantle stereotypes and channel a fierce, multidimensional feminine divine.

This first workshop showing brings together a dynamic ensemble of vocalists and local poets for a night of spiritual invocation, artistic excavation, and cultural celebration.
