In Elle Reck’s surreal theater work, Muriel Monday’s world collapses around her as The Parish Gwen Dinner Party blurs the lines of reality and fantasy with magic and a talking animatronic parrot penetrating her life. An outsider becomes even more isolated in an environment of outcasts, finding difficulty to fit into any societal standards. While others prepare for The Parish Gwen Dinner Party, Muriel feels even more lost than before. Attend the Parish Gwen Dinner Party and maybe everything will be better?
About the Artist
Elle Reck is a filmmaker/ animator/ and playwright located in Los Angeles California. Her multimedia approach to art creates an original heightened world. She has shown work with 99Warehouse, New Arts Foundation, 2220 Arts + Archives, The Elysian Theater, Illusion Magic Theater, Stevenson Blanche, and The Coffeehouse Theater at California Institute of the Arts. Her art focuses on sexual deviancy, queer identities, camp ideology and aesthetics, and the exhibition of the humiliation of humanity. She is a graduate of California Institute of the Arts.
