THE HUBBARD COLLECTIVE / DANIEL DIAZ DANCE – FiftyFifty
July 14 @ 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm$15.00 - $20.00
Two new works by two exciting, emerging companies, The Hubbard Collective and Daniel Diaz Dance.
The Hubbard Collective’s “The Devil’s Friend” tells the story of Fernâo de Hutra, a man who becomes infatuated with a woman that he could never have. He would give anything to be with her; including signing over his life to darkness. Through the rhythmic beats of Barbatuques and the visual storytelling of the Hubbard Collective, this folktale adaptation will take you on a funky journey of enchantment.
Daniel Diaz Dance’s “ÅSH” explores the themes of creation, growth, love, lust, death, and reincarnation. This collection of short pieces goes through all the formative stages in our lifetime in an abstract manner that will allow the audience to create their own story. In usual Daniel Diaz Dance tradition, there will be folklore & fashion references to the work based on Daniel Diaz’s ethnic background. Fully set to the music of French/Cuban group Ibeyi, “ÅSH” will take you on the journey of your own life.
