In a collection of new works, SOMAfest features a spacious bio-landscape of dance, film and live music featuring somatic artists. Steeped in sensory-motor refinement, Artists in the Somatic Movement Arts Festival move with internal bio-creativity and full body dynamism expressed in dynamic liquidity, micro-gesture, and profound inter-connection to other performers, audience members, and the world at large! The audience plays a participatory role with this visceral performance approach.
The 10th Anniversary EMBODYMENT Artists include Teri Carter (LA), Caryn Heilman (NYC), Camille Maurine (LA), John William Johnson (Portland, OR), Georgiane Cowan (LA), Jane Blount (San Diego), and others who present kinesthetically charged improvisational and contemporary work infused with sensuality, aliveness and innovation.
Lewis Segal wrote about SOMAfest Artists in the Los Angeles Times:
“Real body awareness…These performers are a breed apart… Brilliant harnessing of the body…”
