This special one-night benefit for Highways is in recognition of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Writer-producer and Highways Board member J.M. Morris returns with a special presentation of her collection of work, 9/11: Perspectives & Pretensions, that debuted at Highways in September 2007.
For this one evening of performance with multimedia elements, Morris stages select pieces from the original presentation that reflect her signature serious to satirical take on the effects of 9/11’s aftermath on various individuals and institutions.
Returning is the original director, legendary filmmaker Charles Burnett, to direct the cast that includes: Joyce Liu (Funny People, The Bold & The Beautiful) in “Repeat,” the riveting story of a female Iraq War vet, and Iraqi-American actress Reem Kadem (Hawthorne, Veronica Mars), who reprises her role in “Red Glare.” The evening closes with a music performance by acclaimed singer-actress Erica Gimpel (Spread Your Wings and Fly)
A dessert reception follows the performance.
